Poison Ivy Rinse

I have made up an Allergic Rash Ointment that is used externally for relief of itching and swelling from bee stings, insect bites, poison ivy rash, other allergic rashes. It is to be applied several times a day.
If needed for poison ivy, you want to use this Poison Ivy Rinse. This rinse helps to break down the oil from the poison ivy (or poison oak or poison sumac) so that it can be removed from the body and not spread.
First make sure you remove all clothing carefully and wash them (I wash them separately) since the oil can be in the fibers of the material and could get on you again or on someone else. Rinse wherever you touched poison ivy with the Poison Ivy Rinse that hopefully you have made up in advance. If not, at least rinse with apple cider vinegar. Ideally you will have the Poison Ivy Rinse in your refrigerator when you need it.
- Make a strong decoction of equal parts Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) and Horsetail (Equisetum arvense).
- Place 1/2 ounce (1 Tablespoon) of each herb into a sauce pan.
- Pour 2 cups of cold water over the herbs.
- Cover the pan and slowly bring to a boil.
- Lower the heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Strain the decoction into a measuring cup..
- To 2 parts of the resulting herbal liquid, add 1 part apple cider vinegar.
- Whatever the liquid measures in the cup, add half of that amount of apple cider vinegar.
- Add 1 tablespoon of salt per cup of the above mixture of tea and vinegar.
- Store in refrigerator until needed.
- Apply externally as a rinse to all affected areas, being careful not to spread to other parts of body or on clothing.
- Apply rash ointment after rinsed area has dried.
